Abigail "Abby" Littman is a recurring character in Netflix's Ginny & Georgia. She is a 16-year-old girl who lives in Wellsbury, Massachusetts. Her teenage self is portrayed by Katie Douglas, while her child counterpart is portrayed by Isabella Astbury.

History[]

Background[]

Both Abby's parents are therapists, her dad being her closest parent. She's been friends with Max and Norah since they were very young and has grown up with them over the years.

Throughout the Series[]

Season 1[]

Max introduces Ginny to her friends Abby, Norah and the rest of the group at lunch.

The next day, Ginny hangs with the girls in the bathroom as they do their makeup. Once they've finished, they give Ginny a tour of the hallways and who hangs where, with Abby making slightly snarky comments about people, to which Max tells her to be nice. Once they reach their own hangout spot and Max suggests Ginny joins the group, Abby pulls them away from her for a chat and expresses whilst she thinks Ginny's 'fine', she doesn't think the group needs messing with. She appears very territorial and threatened.

Later, the gang hang at Brodie's basement (Ginny for the first time), and Abby jumps into Max's arms upon seeing her. From there, they all joke around, smoke and talk about Ginny and Hunter. Abby makes further rude commments infront of Ginny, telling Samantha she thinks Hunter still likes her. Max frustratingly asks her what she's doing, to which Abby makes a crazy gesture in response to.

The day after, Max mentions that Norah and Abby have plans to go shopping after school, with Ginny standing in earshot. An apologetic Norah quickly invites Ginny, but Abby doesn't seem as on board with the idea.

The trio browses a trendy clothing store. Abby walks around moodily and makes a casual comment about how "disgusting" she is (hinting at her body dysmorphia). She catches sight of a trendy pink top and enthusiastically holds it up, asking Ginny if she should get it. Ginny says yes. Abby smiles mischievously and rips the tag off, shoving it into her jacket. Norah is unimpressed, but Abby continues stealing items. She encourages Ginny to steal a pair of earrings, which Ginny agrees to out of peer pressure. The trio begins to leave, but an employee orders them not to. The employee caught sight of Ginny stealing the earrings, and Georgia is called.

When Georgia arrives, she boldly accuses the store worker of racially profiling Ginny, since none of the other girls' bags were checked. The employee denies this, and neither Abby nor Norah speaks up, looking terrifed and worried. A tired Ginny admits to stealing. Outside the store, Georgia asks the girls about the incident, likely knowing they aren't innocent. Abby claims that she and Norah "had no idea Ginny would be stealing", throwing her new friend under the bus. Georgia doesn't buy it at all, and sternly tells the girls to get home.

Later, Abby and Norah visit Ginny at her house. Abby wears the top she stole from the store, and has appeared to have cropped and styled it. Georgia skeptically greets them in the yard. The two bring Ginny makeup products and apologize for the stealing debacle. Ginny quickly forgives them, likely because of her desire to have friends. Max texts the girls about how sad she is that she can't hang out with them, since she is grounded. Abby jokingly calls Max "so extra", and the girls post pictures together.

Abby is later seen lying alone on her bed, listening to her parents shout at each other and closing her bedroom door miserably. She turns up her music and starts obsessing over her appearance, particularly how her body looks. She pinches and stares at her thighs in the mirror, and then numbly applies duct tape to them to make them appear smaller. She appears to struggle in putting on a pair of expensive new jeans and sends a photo of them in the MANG group chat. Her friends react with praise about how good she looks.

Abby decides to wear her jeans to the Sophomore Sleepover, while the rest of the MANG girls wear PJs. They all party, dance and take fun pictures together in a booth. The girls later get their hair done by a hairdresser and have them put up in high ponytails. When it's Ginny's turn, the lady frizzes up her curly hair. Ginny leaves in distress, despite Norah kindly offering to help her fix it. Abby snickers, seemingly finding the situation funny. Max and Norah roll their eyes at her.

Later, Norah, Brodie, Jordan, and Abby are hanging out in a classroom and start to play Truth or Dare. Jordan dares Abby to swap outfits with Brodie. Abby immediately looks uneasy, which hints that she may be wearing the duct tape under her jeans again. She snippily tells him no, and that she doesn't want to "stretch out her new Harbours". She abruptly starts to leave the room, causing Norah to ask if she's okay. She says she is, but leaves anyway. She's seen the next morning still obviously very drunk, with Norah and Max helping her, but is there when Hunter officially asks Ginny to be his girlfriend. Abby cheers them on through drunken babbles causing them both to laugh.

Presumably the next school day, MAN come up to Ginny, expressing excitement for her posts with Hunter online, with Abby jumping down, giddy for her. As they all chat, she's seen subtly feeling her thighs again, with a sad look.

At the Halloween party, Press comments on Abby having "whale legs", triggering her body image issues. Samantha looks on in enjoyment (due to Abby and the rest of MANG's exclusion of her). Abby then crawls onto Press and begins giving him a lap dance, but eventually he shoves her off. He asks Sam if she thinks she can do it better than Abby. A delighted Sam smirks at Abby and gets on Press's lap. Abby walks away in defeat and takes shots.

In a fit of rage and jealousy against Press and Samantha, Abby convinces a confused Norah to make out with her in front of the entire party, to which they do so as Press and Samantha look on. The two appear to be having fun, even when Norah quickly pulls out (most likely because her boyfriend was watching).

Later, Ginny goes to the bathroom, and we see Abby at the sink washing out her mouth (having likely just made herself throw up). Abby wipes away her tears and leaves the bathroom happily, neither she nor Ginny revealing their issues.

At Berry Tree, Ginny spaces out, causing Abby to ask her what's up. Ginny tells Abby about Austin stabbing Zach with a pencil. Abby asks if he's in therapy and says that everyone needs it for "maintenance". She tells Ginny that both her parents are therapists and kindly offers to get her dad to help arrange an appointment for Austin. This was the first time we see the more relaxed and generous side of Abby, especially towards Ginny.

Abby's dad gets Austin an appointment, but when she finds out Georgia doesn't know, she apologetically informs Ginny he cannot go because it requires her consent.

At school, Max decorates the Berry Tree for Ginny's birthday. Abby looks on unenthusiastically due to her jealousy. When Max gushes about how happy she is that Ginny moved to Wellsbury, Abby snaps. She gives Ginny fake praise and says she's over how popular Ginny is. She leaves, and Max and Norah comment about how rude that was. Ginny says that maybe Abby has something going on at home, having learned of Abby's parents' divorce while having dinner at the Chens'. The girls seem oblivious to this, and Max attributes Abby's outburst to jealousy, calling her "the Grinch who stole sophomore year".

At lunch, Abby approaches her friends' table with anxiety, due to what happened that morning. The girls stare in awkward silence until Ginny makes MANG's signature gag about not wanting "her to sit with us". Abby smirks and rejoins the group, and the atmosphere calms down. However, as soon a the bro squad arrive, eveyone else is talking except for her. She sadly smiles and eats her chips.

At school, Abby asks Ginny where Norah is and says that Max also isn't around much anymore, due to her relationship with Sophie. The boys make rude comments to her about her being lonely, to which she snapily responds. Ginny asks if she's okay, and Abby tells her she's just having a bad day. After further comments from the boys, she signals Ginny that she wants to discuss it, and is ultimately relieved when Ginny picks that up. But when Ginny gets a text from Zion telling her he'd arrived go see her, she quickly forgets about Abby.

Abby's parents continue to argue until their divorce is finalized. Distraught, Abby tries multiple times to confide in her friends or asks to hang, but they brush her off, busy with all their own drama.

Once her father moves out for good, Abby is seen heartbroken on her bed, brushing off her mother's attempts to comfort her. As she leaves, Abby breaks down and asks MANG if they could hang on the group chat, but none respond.

One night, Abby calls an emergency MANG meeting at the Blue Farm Cafe. She shows up teary-eyed and tells them her dad moved out. She's hurt that she had to go through "the worst week of her life" without MANG by her side, and calls them bad friends. Ginny says she's sorry, but she had stuff going on too. She says, "It's not always just about you". Abby understandably gets angry and Ginny says she can be a real bitch, causing Abby to slap her across the face. Abby is shocked at what she's done and speechless, slaps herself in compensation. Max slaps herself, too, just for the hell of it. As Abby breaks down into tears of regret, the girls eventually start giggling, and Abby apologizes to Ginny over and over through sobs as Norah hugs her. This seems to heal the cracks in MANG for the time being.

Abby calls a MANG meeting at Max's house after Sophie dumped her. Norah and Abby comfort her and feed her Oreos. Ginny gets up to "use the bathroom" and goes to Marcus' room. Through the open door, Abby catches Marcus and Ginny embracing each other. Abby snaps at Ginny and tells her she cannot tell Max, as she's already devastated about Sophie and this will make it far worse. She also says that if Ginny tells her in the furture, it will destroy their friend group. She says that after her parents' divorce, she "can't lose MANG too". Ginny isn't fully on board, but agrees because Abby is quite a bossy person.

Max discovers through Marcus' text messages that he and Ginny hooked up. At school, an oblivious Ginny tries to approach MAN, but they shun her. Abby seems guilty for this and gives her a sad smile.

Later, at Max's play, she tells Ginny that she knows what she did. Norah and Abby join them in the hallway. Ginny turns to Abby and mistakenly accuses her of telling Max, despite her being the one who told Ginny not to tell. Abby says she didn't. Max then turns on Abby, hurt that she lied and acted shocked when Max told her. Abby expresses that she didn't want her to get hurt further, but Max refuses to listen.

Hunter comes up to the group. As revenge for getting her in trouble with Max, Abby exposes Marcus and Ginny's fornication to Hunter. When Max leaves, Abby begs for her to forgive her, but she won't, harshly telling Abby not to talk to her. She then tells Norah to "leave the liars." causing Norah to follow in abandoning Abby, leaving her heartbroken. She turns to Ginny in hatred and calls her a bitch through tears, then storms off, shoulder budging her hard on the way out.

At school, Max, Norah, and the rest of their friends have officially ditched Abby and Ginny. Abby's seen sadly sitting alone in the cafeteria. Ginny approaches her, but she storms off and throws out her lunch. This was Abby's final appearance in Season 1.

Season 2[]

Abby makes her first appearance whilst visiting the Bakers’ household the day after Thanksgiving with a plate full of pizza bagels for MANG’s annual ‘post-Thanksgiving brunch’. When Ellen lets her in, Abby is met with an enraged Max, who was making a TikTok with Norah. Max states to Abby that she’s still angry at her over the whole deal with Ginny and Marcus, and follows up by telling Abby to go away, along with a hesitant Norah agreeing with Max. Abby leaves, visibly saddened by this conversation. As she leaves, she notices Ginny, Georgia, and Zion across the street from them. Georgia asks Ginny what’s going on with Abby, noticing her running away from the Bakers’ house crying. Ginny tells her that Abby’s parents are getting a divorce.

When Ginny returns to Wellsbury High after being away for a few weeks, she briefly sees Abby sitting alone in the light green area, away from Max, Norah, Hunter, Brodie, and Press, indicating that she has been shunned from their entire friend group. They exchange a quick glance before Abby turns away and Ginny walks off to her class.

Abby is later seen alone in her bedroom at night, looking at the TikTok videos created by Max and Norah during Thanksgiving, and appears upset afterward.

Abby visits Blue Farm whilst Ginny is working there. As she approaches the bar to order something, Ginny quickly asks Padma to take over, as she isn’t willing to talk with Abby after the whole ordeal surrounding Marcus and Ginny’s secret. However, when Abby and Ginny both notice Sophie (Max’s ex-girlfriend) being on a date with a guy in the restaurant, they can’t help but stare at each other in shock.

After Abby attempts to tell Max about what she saw at Blue Farm the day before, and Max angrily tells her off for it, Abby, exhausted, turns around to Ginny and asks her if she’s willing to skip next class and go smoke weed with her, with a surprised Ginny agreeing with her. They go to Abby’s bedroom in her house and have a conversation about Abby’s home situation, Georgia being pregnant at their age, with Abby humorously trying to use her pillow to make herself seem pregnant, and expressing frustration at Max and others from the friend group. Eventually, Abby tells Ginny she has an idea; they both dye a part of their hair a bright color, with Abby dying a few streaks of her hair bright pink. They return to school later, with a shocked Max and Norah staring them down as they walk down the hallway, likely surprised by their hair color and their reconciliation. When they pass Max and Norah, however, a teacher walks up to them and asks them if they just skipped class, with Abby and Ginny being asked to come with her.

On Max’s birthday, Abby decided to make a large ‘Happy Birthday’ poster and hung it up at the spot where MANG always hung out together. When Max finds out Abby made the poster, she angrily rips it off and throws it away, leaving a disappointed Abby to walk off. Abby expresses her frustration about this situation to Ginny and Marcus later, whilst smoking weed together, explaining it took hours for her to make the poster, and Max was very rude about it.

Abby continues to hang out with Ginny, and eventually Norah comes up to them, complimenting them on their hair. When Max notices this, she becomes angry at Norah and storms off, and the three proceed to laugh at her. After Ginny and Max make up, Ginny hosts a birthday party for Max and Marcus. During the party, Max apologizes to Abby but they discuss it no further, reuniting MANG again.

As MANG is back together, they walk down the hallway as before and hang out with the entire friend group again. Abby mentions her mother only grounded her for the weekend as a result of the house party at Georgia’s home.

When MANG and their moms are making latkes at the Bakers’ house, Abby has a few pleasant interactions with her mother, including her mother revealing that a teacher she once had was fired and making a joke about it. Later that evening, Abby, along with MANG, attends a party in Brodie’s basement. She expresses surprise at Marcus’ guitar skills and is seen leaning on Press. At one point, when Brodie dares her to sit on his back, he remarks on her weight, which visibly affects Abby, causing her to sit back on the couch and look down in shame.

When Max and Abby join Ginny, Samantha, Hunter, and Press at Blue Farm, they discuss the need to participate in the Christmas event, with Abby humorously asking if they can’t just give the people money instead of participating. At a certain point, Press notices Abby staring at him as he eats chips, and he proceeds to jokingly ask her if she wants one, eventually throwing one at her face. Abby is later seen participating in the Christmas event.

After the Christmas break, Abby tells MANG that she had to endure the entire Christmas break hearing her maternal grandparents tell her mom that they never liked Abby’s dad because of their divorce. Later on, Abby invites MANG to come to Blue Farm, but only Ginny shows up, which Abby jokingly justifies by claiming they’re the only ones who have a broken home life. Abby tells Ginny that her dad now has a girlfriend named Anna, whom he wants Abby to meet, and also tells her how strangely relaxed her mother is dealing with the divorce, to which Ginny empathizes. Abby leaves the table to go to the bathroom, and when Ginny asks her if she wants her to come, a panicked Abby assures her it’s not necessary, indicating she’s going to the bathroom to make herself throw up. She comes back wiping her mouth.

Abby hangs out with Max and Norah, and they discuss Ginny being at work, Max’s crush on Silver, and Marcus’ recent mental struggles that Max has noticed. Abby receives a text message from Press, in which Max and Norah ask her if he wants to be in a relationship with her, expressing disgust at the idea. Abby, visibly distracted, agrees.

After Ginny drops out of Mr. Gitten’s AP English class, Ginny ends up in the same class as Abby. At one point, Abby is shocked when Press walks straight past her as she enters the classroom, not acknowledging her presence, looking down in sadness. Abby and Ginny are seated close to each other, and at one point, as Ginny is overhearing a lot of stressful noises in the classroom, she glances over at Abby, who’s staring at her phone. Abby winks at her.

During the play that Max and Bracia play in, Abby is seen in the audience watching them with Press sitting next to her. At one point, as Press is holding her hand, he notices something on her thigh and asks her if she’s taping her legs, to which a horrified Abby angrily tells him to shut up and doesn’t respond further.

After Ginny and Marcus’ breakup, MANG comforts Ginny by inviting her to Abby’s house, and whilst in her bedroom, they’re seen drinking, laughing together, and Ginny expresses gratefulness for having met MANG. However, when Ginny has a realization about Georgia’s cryptic usage of Lake Powell earlier that evening, she storms off, leaving the rest of MANG confused.

Later that evening, Abby, along with Max and Norah, attends a party in Brodie’s basement. She walks over to Press, whispers something in his ear, and they proceed to kiss each other in the bathroom, but Norah finds out and drags her away. When confronting her about it and her reasoning for getting with someone like him, a frustrated Abby snaps at her. She tells her she’s not, claiming she’s still angry at Norah over the whole situation with Max, Marcus, and Ginny, and is also mad at Norah for ignoring and shunning her for those weeks, playing along with Max, shouting at her that she's her friend too and instantly regretting it. Norah visibly feels regret about it and comforts Abby, to which she also tells Norah about her dad finding a girlfriend. It isn’t long until Jordan shows up and takes Norah’s attention. Abby walks back to the bathroom, where she hears sounds of vomiting behind the locked door. When the door opens, Samantha walks out of the bathroom and asks Abby what’s up, to which Abby responds it’s nothing. When Samantha walks off, Abby glances at her in a concerned way.

Abby makes her last appearance of the season whilst walking into the bathroom, staring at herself in the mirror, and turning on the tap before walking to the other side of the bathroom, indicating she’s about to make herself throw up, confirming she’s still dealing with bulimia and self-esteem issues.

Season 3[]

Abby makes her first appearance of the season while sitting with Norah at Berry Tree. When Ginny and Max arrive, Abby immediately asks Ginny if she’s alright due to Georgia’s arrest. After Ginny leaves for her class, Abby and Max convince a noticeably hesitant Norah that Georgia is not the person who murdered Tom Fuller.

Abby enters the bathroom later that day and accidentally catches Samantha purging again. She pretends not to have noticed anything, but proceeds to give her some gum and compliments her on her appearance, knowing she’s struggling with the same issues (purging) as herself. When Ginny enters the bathroom, Abby embraces her and comforts her again. Ginny asks if Abby is willing to skip school again, fed up with all the stares and bullying behavior she’s been experiencing all day. Abby agrees, and they hang out in her room. There, Ginny will vent to her about her home life and Georgia’s arrest, and Abby will confide in Ginny by revealing she’s been spending a lot of time with Press lately, which Ginny finds humorous. Still, Abby brushes off and insists it’s not serious. When Nancy (Abby’s mother) walks in and catches them, she realizes they’re skipping school, but isn’t upset with them. She warmly greets Ginny and asks if she’s okay, given everything with Georgia, before telling Abby that her client has canceled for the day and leaving the room. Ginny asks Abby later if she noticed Norah being a bit off earlier that day, which Abby rationalizes by claiming Bev (Norah’s mother, who was close with Cynthia) is a bit uptight sometimes. Abby makes fun of her mother for her demeanor later, claiming she wasn’t even sure there was actual coffee in her cup.

When Ginny arrives at school and walks up to the friend group at Berry Tree, Abby is seen sitting alongside Press during their conversation, and at one point, hits him out of frustration with an ignorant comment he made towards Ginny regarding her mom’s arrest. When Max asks Abby if she’s willing to come to the skate park with her later that day to be with Silver, she initially says no, but gives in.

At the skate park, Abby is sitting alongside Max and Silver, who are talking about Marcus’ recent smoking habits. Abby walks up to Marcus and asks him for a smoke, but it isn’t long until Tris (a friend of Marcus and Silver’s, who is a seemingly good skateboarder) grabs her attention. Marcus notices Abby’s interest in them and proceeds to ask Abby if she’s willing to do a skateboard trick with his assistance. Abby agrees, and after performing it, Tris compliments her on her skills.

Abby and Press are seen making out in her room, but when Press starts attempting to take her pants off, Abby backs away and stands up. Press tells her that if the reason she doesn’t want to take off her pants is because of her insecurity surrounding her legs, he’s fine with her legs. But Abby claims the reason she doesn’t want to take things further is because her mom will be home soon, to which Press suggests they can do something else. Abby is hesitant, but when Press gives up and stands up ready to leave, she seemingly gives in. Later, after Press is ready to leave, Abby tells Press that she has been making herself throw up lately, but Press dismisses it as ignorance and leaves.

When Ginny is shopping for a dress for ‘Tulips and Tuxes’ along with Lynette and Simone, she bumps into Abby and Nancy at the same store, and they proceed to try on different dresses together. When Abby finds a dress she likes, she immediately comments that she won't eat for a while to wear it, which slightly disturbs Ginny. Meanwhile, Abby makes fun of the dress Lynette chose for Ginny, and both of them send a picture of themselves in the store to the group chat.

Abby is seen hanging out with Samantha, Brodie, and Press in Brodie’s basement, which leads to some awkwardness between Abby and Press, considering what happened between them in Abby’s room prior. When Press and Brodie briefly go upstairs and Samantha returns from the bathroom, Abby tells Samantha she knows she is dealing with bulimia as well, considering she has it as well, and is willing to support her. But Samantha suddenly kisses her and tells her she has always had a crush on Abby, which leaves Abby shocked. Before she can say anything, Press and Brodie return to the basement.

On the evening of ‘Tulips and Tuxes’, Abby is seen wearing a different dress and wearing a hoodie over it. She is excited while driving to the event and is seen taking pictures with the rest of MANG; later, she dances with the whole friend group. A little later, she sees Press and Samantha attending the event together, and is noticeably disturbed and saddened by this, considering her most recent interactions with those two. Brodie comforts her, but Abby storms off. Once in the hallway, she encounters Marcus, and together they decide to drink alcohol in Mr. Gitten’s classroom secretly. When Norah discovers she is drunk, she takes her home early.

Norah brings Abby home, and an empty stomach, Abby accidentally reveals the reason she got so drunk was likely because she hadn’t eaten all day, which puzzles and concerns Norah. When Nancy discovers a wasted Abby returning home alongside Norah, she scolds her for being irresponsible, which enrages Abby and leads her to snap at Nancy instead, calling her out for being an embarrassing and neglectful mother upon her dad’s departure from their home and their divorce, saying that she missed her and needed her, and that she doesn't act like she's her mother. Hurt and frustrated, Nancy walks out of the room. Abby realizes what she just said and breaks down into painful crying and sobbing, with Norah comforting her lying down on her bed and hugging her.

While dropping off Abby at school, Nancy apologizes to Abby and admits that she hasn’t been handling things correctly, but also urges Abby to start doing things better, especially regarding school. She tells her the skipping to smoke weed has to stop, and that she's signed her up for extra tutoring, which Abby isn’t happy about, but ultimately gives in, acknowledging that as her mom said, they both need to do better and learn to live with the new reality. Whilst walking in, she sees Samantha and Press being affectionate in the hallway, but when Ginny and Norah ask her about it, she dismisses it and acts like she doesn’t care. When Max walks up to them and tells them that Mr. Gitten’s classroom was severely vandalized and the school is getting the police involved to find the person responsible, knowing she left Marcus in there during ‘Tulips and Tuxes’ the night prior, she's immediately concerned and confronts Marcus about this in class as soon as she walks in.

When Abby walks into the study hall for her tutoring, she’s met with Tris, who is revealed to be her tutor. Abby remembers them from the skate park and is excited to have them as her tutor. When Tris asks what subject they should start with, Abby humorously answers, ‘D, all of the above,’ and explains to Tris that she’s just bad at school, which Tris denies and encourages her to realize she's not stupid. Abby asks if Tris could ever teach her skateboarding instead, which Tris considers, but tells her to focus on the tutoring first.

Abby is seen standing along with Max and Norah when Ginny returns to school for the first time after Georgia’s trial has started. PI Cordova ruined her reputation by calling her a serial killer, along with giving multiple details about Georgia’s past. She seems to be more stressed about the situation whereas Norah is more passive aggressive and Max is telling them to be supportive of Ginny.

When Press again makes an ignorant comment toward Ginny about Georgia’s situation, Ginny snaps at him by punching him in the face before running off. Abby is seen in shock, along with everyone else.

Whilst Abby is purging in the bathroom again, Norah and Ginny enter the bathroom and Norah helps Ginny cover up a hickey in there. When Abby encounters them, she greets them and joins in on their conversation about Wolfe and Ginny’s life in the past week since being taken away from Georgia’s home by DCFS. At one point, she tells Ginny she hasn’t seen her smile in a long time. After previously recalling the story of MAN giving each other hickeys when they were younger, Abby mischievously decides to repeat the gesture to Ginny and gives her one on her arm, to which they all laugh about as Norah covers the newest one up.

At a party in Brodie’s basement, Abby is talking to Press and asks if he thinks her shirt looks weird, to which Press responds rudely. Press proceeds to make a crude comment towards her afterwards, inviting her to the bathroom to take it off, but Abby asks him about his relationship with Samantha, which Press responds to indifferently. Abby rejects him and proceeds to ask Max instead what she thinks of her shirt, but Max is no help either. Abby glances at Press and Samantha again, but immediately notices Tris arriving at the party and walks up to them. Tris reveals Silver invited them, and Abby asks Tris if they think Max and Silver are compatible, which Tris responds to by claiming it’s not a good sign for the person you’re dating not to like your friends. Abby also tells Tris about Press almost being willing to cheat on Samantha with her moments earlier, to which Tris replies that not being with Press is not a huge loss, which amuses Abby and leads to her asking Tris if they would like to drink a beer together.

Max arranges all of MANG to meet at Blue Farm. Once there, Max opens up about feeling like MANG hasn’t been properly supportive of each other lately, especially regarding Ginny’s home situation. After nonchalantly calling out Norah for being weird about Georgia's trial, Abby expresses that feels like she's been very supportive, but Ginny tells Norah that she feels she’s been off lately. Norah apologizes for this, explaining that she’s been distracted by her severe menstrual periods lately and mentions that she might be pregnant, although she hasn’t yet taken a test. But when it’s revealed she bought multiple and has them in her bag, Max claims that all of MANG should try one right now. Abby’s test ends up negative, just like Max’s and Norah’s.

When MANG is hanging out at the school yard, they discuss Wolfe (who later shows up and introduces himself). At one point, all of MANG notices that Abby has done her lashes and makeup a certain way today, and asks her why she did that, indicating she did it for someone, which Abby brushes off and leaves after all the taunting. Later on, she arrives at her tutoring session and is met by Tris, who proudly claims that her last essay is good. Abby is happy about this, and she and Tris exchange a few flirtatious stares. At one point, Tris invites Abby to come to Skater’s Alley later that day, along with them, but Abby is caught off guard by this. She quickly packs her stuff, claims she can’t go, and leaves, which surprises Tris a bit.

When Abby runs into Marcus at the skate park, she's met by Tris, who is happy to see her. Marcus seems to know what’s going on and leaves. Tris helps Abby perform a trick on their skateboard, which leads to a brief, romantic moment between them.

At AP English class, Abby arrives, and Marcus immediately asks her about Tris, which visibly makes Press jealous. Marcus also asks Abby if she knows whether Ginny and Wolfe are still together, to which she answers she doesn’t, but when Ginny arrives, she immediately asks her. Abby tells Ginny that her father wants to have dinner with her and his new girlfriend Anna, which Ginny empathizes with. Abby asks Ginny if she’d be willing to come along with her to make it less awkward, which Ginny agrees to, which Abby is thankful for. When the teacher comes up to Abby, she hands her the essay and compliments her on her effort. It’s then revealed that she got an A for her essay, which lifts her mood. When Press comes up to her table to flirt with her and ask her if she wants to hang out with him later that night, she rejects him by claiming God has a plan for her, and he’s not in it.

At the dinner at Blue Farm, Abby often clashes with her dad, who is put off by some of her crass comments. He asks her about school, and Abby tells him she now has a tutor. At one point, Anna asks Ginny how she’s doing to get rid of the awkwardness, and Ginny honestly tells her that her mom is on trial for murder, which Abby and John both affirm, leaving Anna shocked. When Ginny talks to Joe briefly, she notices Abby leaving the bathroom, and after Padma revealed someone was throwing up in the bathroom, she starts speculating that Abby might have bulimia. When the two return to the table, Abby makes yet another crass comment to John, but this time her and John laugh hysterically at it, lightening the mood, until Anna reveals her and her dad now live together, which devastates Abby again and pushes her to leave the restaurant, with Ginny following suit.

When Ginny and Norah conclude Abby might have bulimia, they visit Abby in her room and verbatim ask her about it. Abby puts off Abby and gets defensive, but Ginny and Norah both immediately reveal shocking things about themselves to ease Abby’s discomfort, like Ginny self-harming and Norah having Herpes. Abby gives in, but affirms Ginny and Norah that she’s fine and can stop purging whenever she wants to, and tells them her mom doesn’t need to know about it. She also urges Ginny and Norah not to tell Max about their conversation, out of fear that they might feel left out. Abby also tells them how she’s sad that her dad lives with his new girlfriend in their new house, presumably to start another family. Ginny jokingly recommends burning it down. Abby is reminded of what Ginny told her last season about her and Georgia egging Zion’s girlfriend’s house when they were younger, and later that evening, Abby, Ginny, and Norah proceed to egg Abby’s father’s house in disguises. During this, Abby confesses she has a crush on Tris, but urges Ginny and Norah not to tell Max as she’d "make it a whole queer thing."

Abby and Tris are seen studying together in her room. After they joke around a little, they almost kiss, but just as they are about to, Nancy enters the room. She confronts Abby about the egging incident, claiming Anna has installed a Ring Camera, and the footage proves that Abby, Ginny, and Norah egged her dad’s house. When Abby asks if that means she’s grounded, Nancy humorously tells her no, but if her dad asks, then yes, before telling them to finish their homework and leaving the room. When Nancy leaves, Tris comments on Nancy being cool about the situation, and asks Abby if she wants to kiss them. Abby admits to it, and the pair share their first kiss.

When Max enters school, she immediately notices Abby hanging out in Red with Marcus’s friends, which is unlike her. After jokingly pushing the question to her after greetings, Abby brushes it off and instead asks Max if she’s coming to Brodie’s basement that weekend due to Press’s ID being confiscated, so he can’t buy alcohol anymore. Still, Tris asks Silver and she offers to do it before Max can answer. Tris asks Abby if she’s been talking to Press again, which Abby denies. When Tris walks away, Abby glances at them lovingly, but when she sees Max noticing, she looks away from her down to the ground. Once Ginny arrives at school, Abby sarcastically reminds her and Marcus they have English and they all take off together.

Silver later reveals to Max that Abby and Tris are kind of a thing, which saddens Max because she doesn’t understand why Abby didn’t tell her.

When Abby arrives at Ginny and Norah’s table, where they are talking about Cynthia and Joe’s affair, she starts asking Abby about her study ‘date’ with Tris. When Ginny and Norah notice Abby eating a large slice of pizza, knowing now about her bulimia, they stare at her eating it to the point she affirms to them she won’t be purging anymore. When Max arrives at the table and asks what they’re all talking about, Abby changes the subject, and ANG is noticeably withholding from Max. At one point, Abby accidentally reveals that Ginny and Norah went egging her dad’s house, which they justified not inviting Max to due to her being occupied with the upcoming musical. When Abby and Ginny’s dinner with her dad and Anna comes up as well, ANG uses the same excuse and assures Max they didn’t want to make her feel left out, but Max tells them she was left out. Max asks them if they will be coming to see her at Mousse tonight, and all of them encouragingly promise her they will.

Despite promising Ginny and Norah not to purge anymore, Abby is later seen entering the bathroom about to purge again. She stops herself the first time, but returns from the entrance and rushes into the bathroom stall again.

When Abby arrives at Mousse, she notices Press and Samantha are absent. She asks Brodie if they think they’re too good to attend, which Brodie claims is indeed the case, before the two share a humorous conversation about Brodie being convinced Mousse will feature actual moose played by Max, due to the similar-sounding name. When Marcus walks up to Abby and asks her if Ginny is coming, she claims she’s supposed to. Tris later arrives at the play, and Abby makes Brodie switch one seat further so that Tris can sit next to her. During Mousse, Max sometimes looks at Abby and Tris with a regretful stare.

After Mousse, Abby bounces up to Max. She congratulates her on the show, before noticing she is sad due to her conversation with her parents and Marcus prior and hugs her. She asks her if the reason she is sad is because ANG hung out without her, which Max responds no but claims that did upset her. Abby encourages her not to be dramatic. Max walks away, clearly upset, leaving Abby, Brodie, and Norah puzzled.

During the last class of the school year in English, Abby reveals that she will attend summer camp during the summer break. When Ginny asks what kind of summer camp, Abby clarifies that she will be a camp counselor, and it’s a Jewish thing, and that she will be leaving in a week. When the teacher announces that Ginny won the poetry contest and will recite it at the end-of-the-year event in the auditorium, Abby is happy for her and claps along with the rest of the class.

At the end of the school year event in the auditorium, Abby is seated next to Norah, and they await Ginny’s recital. When Max comes up to sit behind them, they greet her, Abby noticeably colder than Norah. When Max reveals that she and Silver broke up, Abby and Norah immediately comfort her. When Max asks about Abby’s new relationship with Tris, Abby gets annoyed and claims the reason she didn’t tell Max is because she knew Max would turn it into a huge thing, but Norah interrupts the pair and tells them not to fight, considering they are in public. Max ignores this opens up about being distraught by the state of (M)ANG, telling them her feelings were hurt and she loves them and wants to fix things, to which Abby responds to by frustratedly saying Max’s feelings are a lot to deal with sometimes, but Norah breaks off the argument, and Max leaves devastated. When Marcus takes Max’s seat, Abby slightly snarkily says "Oh look we upgraded Bakers." to which Marcus smirks at and Norah tells her not to be mean. Marcus and Abby secretly share a drink, with her being noticeably shocked by its strength after taking a sip. He tells her that he failed this year, to which she gives him a slightly concerned look but seems to understand he doesn't want to discuss it further. When Ginny's announced to read her poem, Abby cheers for her, and watches along with the rest of the audience in admiration.

After Ginny’s poem, Abby and Norah congratulate and hug her. The three walk off, discussing what awaits them in Junior Year after the summer holiday, and at one point Ginny asks why Max is not with them.

At Brodie’s basement party, Abby is seen dancing with Ginny and Norah. When Max comes up to them and tries to join in, Abby appears annoyed by her and tells her that if she didn’t mean to be dramatic, she wouldn’t need to announce it. Later that evening, as she walks past Press and Samantha, she overhears Press making a rude comment about Samantha's weight, and immediately steps in to tell Press to be nice to her, and gives Samantha a nonchalant but acknowledging half smile. She walks up to the bar where she sees Marcus and asks him what he’s doing, and when he reveals he’s drinking shots, she’s willing to join him, but before she can, Max pulls him away and drags him away from the party to go home. Abby asks Max and Marcus to stay andsays tells Max through slightly drunken giggles to not be a brat just because she's mad at them. Max refuses and insists on taking him home. This was Abby’s final appearance in Season 3.

Personality[]

Abby is ultimately a kind and caring individual. She's presented as humorous, deadpan and sarcastic, but also intuitive, perceptive, fun-loving and supportive, even to people like Samantha who have treated her badly. She was arguably the most loyal friend out of MANG in S2 and to Max and Norah all throughout S1, with Ginny more so in the later episodes.

However, she can occasionally come across as a little rough around the edges. She's seen sometimes as snarky and moody as a result of the struggles she secretly deals with, like her parents’ divorce and their respective demeanor as a result of it and the difference the divorce makes to her home life, alongside an implied eating disorder, Bulimia, and potentially Body Dysmporphia Disorder. Abby is often implied to have issues with food and her eating habits, such as keeping a large amount of food in her room and purging (making herself throw up) after eating. She also often makes self-demeaning comments about her appearance and is shown to be very insecure about it, even going as far as to use tape on her legs to make them look thinner and claiming she wouldn’t be able to eat for a week to feel confident enough to wear her ‘Tulips and Tuxes’ dress.

Abby can also be blunt and come across as unintentionally or even intentionally rude sometimes, such as when she makes comments about Ginny in the first season a few times or laughing under her breath when Ginny’s hair gets messed up during Sophomore Sleepover. Furthermore, she can be impulsive and sneaky, as seen when she (along with Norah) accuses Ginny of shoplifting without their knowledge, despite it being her idea, and her pressure on Ginny. She was also quite dismissive and rude to Max in parts of S3, but it has been heavily implied by both things said by her character and things said by those who create and star in the show, including Katie Douglas, that she is possibly resentful and frustrated with Max for her treatment in Season 1 and 2, as Max never gave her an arguably good apology or made up for her mistakes when it came to their friendship.

Regardless of her flaws, she is generally well-intentioned and cares about the people around her, which can be seen by the way she was willing to arrange a therapist for Austin when Ginny asked her to, she made several attempts at making up with Max in season 2 like creating a ‘Happy Birthday’-poster for her and when MANG grows apart throughout season 3 and Max is getting increasingly excluded, Abby still cares about her feelings and doesn’t want her to feel that way. She was also consistently supportive of Ginny and the struggles she was going through with her mother's trial all throughout S3, only expressing negative emotions about the situation as slight shock at one point.

Physical Appearance[]

Abby is very beautiful, with long auburn hair and a young-looking face. She has hazel eyes and pale slightly freckled skin. She is very small, standing at 5 ft, the shortest of her friends. At the beginning of season 2, her hair seems more of a dark shade of red and she adds pink highlights to it in ep 3. In S3, her hair seems slightly lighter and more layered than before but relatively similar to S2.

Style[]

Abby's style has seemed to vary each season, possibly due to when they were filmed and what was in trend at the time. In S1, her style was presented as more 2010's casual. She wore hoodies, polo shirts, knitted sweaters and sweatshirts usually in the colours of white, red, green, blue, yellow and black. Most of these were either plain, colourblock, striped or had a graphic design to them. She wore different pairs of skinny jeans in varied blues and black (sometimes ripped), slim fit black trousers/jeans, bootcut embroidered jeans and denim dungareeses. For footwear she wore sneakers and combat boots. Her hair was almost always curled, wavy and styled but her makeup appeared minimal. The overall apparel is that her overall style in S1 was casual, but confident. Very done up hair and clothes, but clean makeup.

In S2, her style seemed similar but also slightly more trendy and oversized. She wore mostly the same type of clothes, some from S1 even making a reappearance (e.g. embroidered rainbow bootcut jeans, dusty pink cropped hoodie, black WHATEVER mesh top, combat boots, sneakers), but her tops were mostly far more oversized and baggier. She is seen wearing huge hoodies, polo shirts sweaters and sweatshirts much more this season, usually in muted or dark shades of blue, teal, green and black. Some are cropped, but still oversized. She does however, start adding some new features, such as long oversized flannel shirts and ribbed knit cardigans/sweaters. She wore a polo dress with tights at a party, but she had very rarely worn either up to this point. Her bottoms shift, as the none of the ripped and black skinny jeans dungarees reappear. She kept the same pair of bootcuts, pale blue ripped ones and the plain blue skinnys. Her footwear mostly stays the same, except we see her in fur cuffed slipper boots and beige trainers as well. She is seen wearing beanies on a few occassions too. Her hair is completely straightened and down for the entire season (except for one scene with a half up), and she dyes pink streaks in it during the season. She seemingly wears the same amount of makeup as in S1 up until she bonds with Ginny and Marcus. She then starts wearing much more noticebale eye makeup, including mascara, eyehadow (dusty pink) and eyeliner. The overall apparel on her style in S2 is that its often much more oversized and reflective of her worsening insecurities this season.

Abby's style in S3 is the most different we've ever seen and much more up to date with current trends in the modern day (though the show is set in 2021). Though she still has some similarities to previous seasons in her top wear (e.g. graphic sweatshirts, oversized sweaters, hoodies, long flannels), a lot of the colours and patterns aren't ones we've see her in before. Bright orange and red, pinks, baby blues, spring green ect. She also added in a lot more top types, such as tank tops, asymmetrical slim fits, cropped polos and boxy tees. She even begins to wear dresses to school casually, as well as for parties, them being floral printed as well as metallic denim. She also wore one to the dance, which was long, plale teal and satin. As far as her bottoms wear, she has completely ditched the skinny jeans and mostly resorted to wearing baggy cargo pants throughout the season (in cream, grey and light green). She is also seen wearing baggy and slim fit mid blue jeans, parachute pants and her ripped pale blue ones from S1 + 2. As Spring and then Summer comes into the show, she begins to wear both denim, jersey and cargo shorts, cargo jorts, and skirts. Her footwear is mostly just her white sneakers from previous seasons, as well a black pair and gold sparkly converse for the dance. Her hair is cut to be more layered this season compared to S2, as well as being slightly lighter with the pink streaks remaining. She wears a few more different hairstyles, mostly with low and high ponytails/buns (one being in her natural wavy texture). Her eye makeup is much more intense at times this season, particularly when she is trying to impress Tris. The eyeliner and mascara from S2 is mostly the same, but her eyeshadow varies from shades of dusty blue/purple/pink to darker magentas and smoky eyes. She also starts wearing lashes at some point instead of just mascara. Her style overall in S3 was much more sporty and varied than S1 or (specifically) S2. She seems much more confident in more open outfits, despite still struggling with her ED.

Relationships[]

Family[]

Nancy Littman[]

Nancy Littman is Abby’s mother. She appears to be very kind towards Abby but unintentionally emotionally neglectful. Her care is evident in trying to comfort Abby after her father moves out in Season 1 and joking around with her while making latkes with MANG and the other moms in Season 2. Abby often talks about how her mother is dealing with the divorce in a strangely relaxed way throughout season 2, and claims it’s why she tries to stay in her room as much as possible, as the silence is very awkward for her.

In Season 3, Nancy and Abby clash more frequently, leading to an argument between the two of them. This argument is fueled by frustration over each other’s habits from the past few months since the divorce, and as a result, both of them promise to do better. Whereas Nancy admits to Abby that she hasn’t been handling things well and will do better, she also urges Abby to concentrate more on school, by not skipping school to smoke weed anymore, and putting her in a tutor program.

It’s revealed that Abby grows closer to Nancy, which Nancy admits to. The divorce between Nancy and John is likely not an amicable one, as Nancy is shown not to be angry at Abby for egging his and his new girlfriend’s house near the end of season 3. Abby also mentions visiting her maternal grandparents for Christmas in Season 2, claiming that, upon her divorce, her grandparents made comments about never having liked her father.

John Littman[]

John Littman is Abby’s father. He is mentioned and his voice can be heard during one scene where Abby overhears her parents arguing, but he remains unnamed and has made no physical appearances in the show. He’s said to have moved out of their home, and near the end of Season 2, Abby mentions that her father is in a new relationship.

John makes his first physical appearance in the show in season 3, when he invites Abby (and Ginny) for dinner at Blue Farm with his new girlfriend, Anna. The dinner however turns into a disaster, with Abby making multiple crass comments and the revelation of John and Anna living together devastating Abby, causing her to leave and later on go as far as to egg his new house with her friends, which John was enraged by according to Nancy, who will have Abby convince him she is grounded, despite secretly not grounding her and seemingly approving of the act.

It’s revealed that growing up, Abby was always closer to John than Nancy, a fact that Nancy admits to. John is noticeably the only parent who appeared in the flashback episode of Season 3, attending a younger Abby, Norah, and Maxine’s show at the Baker household. When Ellen asks him what’s going on with Nancy, he’s interrupted by Max before being able to answer.

Friends[]

Maxine Baker[]

Abby and Max have been friends since they were very young, and along with Norah, formed MAN years before the events of the show. Max and Abby seem to be very close, and Abby seems very supportive of her, but Max seems to be hostile and sometimes unkind to her. At some point, when it’s revealed that Abby kept a secret from Max, Max becomes very upset with her and shuns her in a very cruel way, constantly telling her off, calling her names when she tried to make up and ignoring her. She does end up apologizing for this, but in a much less genuine way if compared to the apology she gave Ginny. Abby accepts it, but they never discuss it further. Throughout the rest of S2, they seem back to normal.

Abby and Max’s friendship, however, takes a tumble throughout season 3, as MANG slowly grows apart, only to eventually grow back into ANG, excluding Max. Despite several attempts throughout the season by Max to reunite MANG and get things back to normal, by the end of the season Abby is noticeably fed up with Max’s habit of blowing things out of proportion, being dramatic and verbatim telling Max that her feelings are a lot to handle, going as far as to hide her new relationship with Tris from her and not asking her to egg her dad’s house along with Ginny and Norah. However, she still expresses some concern for Max, such as begging Ginny and Norah not to tell Max about their secret conversations and hangouts, and going as far as to create an ANG account to keep her from finding out and feeling excluded. She also attended Mousse and congratulated her on her performance after it. Even after arguing throughout the last episode, during her final appearance in Season 3, she still seemed to want Max to stay at Brodie’s party, despite telling her not to be a brat through tipsy laughing.

As mentioned previously, its's been implied by both things her character has said and things said by those who created and starred in the show that she is resentful and frustrated with Max for her treatment in Season 1 and 2, as Max never gave her an arguably good apology or made up for her mistakes when it came to their friendship. Their relationship is complicated and complex, but there seems to be love on both ends.

Norah Cohen[]

Abby and Norah have been friends since they were very young, and along with Max, they formed MAN years before the events of the show. They appear to have a good friendship and are often seen spending time together. However, at some point, when Max is upset with Abby and shuns her, Norah goes along with this, and Abby is deeply affected by it. Even after the initial apology from Max and MANG, Abby expresses to Norah that her siding with Max and ignoring her has deeply affected her, which Norah is very sorry for.

Abby and Norah continue their friendship throughout Season 3, despite MANG collectively slowly growing apart, and they eventually turn into ANG as a result of their feelings about Max’s recent habits. Despite not approving of Norah’s occasional demeanor surrounding Georgia’s arrest as a result of Bev’s close bond with Cynthia and her fear of Georgia due to the gun incident of season 1, Abby and Norah remain close. Abby also trusts Norah with her secret surrounding her bulimia, eventually, and even her relationship with Tris. Norah, along with Ginny, also keeps a closer eye on her, knowing about her bulimia, but it isn’t effective.

Virginia Miller[]

Although Abby was initially against the idea of expanding MAN with Ginny’s presence turning it into MANG, she does get along well with Ginny. After Max and Norah shun her, she is initially most angry with Ginny for breaking up their bond, but eventually comes around and befriends her again on her own initiative. In this way, they get to know each other better. Their friendship grew stronger after MANG’s reunion, with Abby even hanging out with Ginny exclusively sometimes.

Abby and Ginny continue their friendship throughout Season 3, despite MANG collectively slowly growing apart, and they eventually turn into ANG as a result of their feelings about Max’s recent habits. Abby immediately comforts her upon Georgia’s arrest and even confides in Ginny regarding her home life and relationship with Press. At one point, Ginny even offers to help her during a dinner with her dad, which Abby thankfully agrees to. Abby also trusts Ginny and Norah with the secret of her bulimia and opens up to them about her new relationship with Tris. Ginny, along with Norah, also keeps a closer eye on her, knowing about her bulimia, but it isn’t effective.

Romances[]

Matt Press[]

Abby and Press are often seen getting close to each other in the first season, such as at Ginny’s birthday party. Despite this, Press often makes mean comments about Abby's body, which triggers her self-esteem issues, and has also ignored her to be around Samantha. They also often act distant when their entire friend group is present. Near the end of season two, however, it seems Press is interested in having a relationship with Abby, as can be noticed by him texting her, spending time with her, and even attending Max’s play with her. However, when he seems to find out that Abby is taping her legs, he acts distant with her again. Abby, however, still approaches him, but Norah stops her and expresses concern at Abby’s wanting to get with Press.

In season 3, Abby still spends time with Press and even takes things to a new level at one point, albeit very hesitantly. Afterwards, she confides in him about her bulimia, but his ignorance and eventual relationship with Samantha prevent them from actually getting into a relationship after all. Despite initially seeming upset by this, Abby gets over him upon meeting and getting closer to Tris, and whenever he flirts with her despite his new relationship, she rejects him.

Tris[]

Abby first met Tris while hanging out at the skate park with Max, Silver, and Marcus, and was immediately impressed by them on sight, which Marcus seemed to notice. When Abby’s mother enrolls her in a tutoring program, coincidentally, Tris ends up as her tutor, and the tutoring works very well, as Abby is eventually seen obtaining an A on an essay she wrote with Tris’s help. Despite being nervous and at one point rejecting an offer actually to go to Skaters Alley with them, Abby eventually grows closer to Tris, and during a tutoring session, they share a kiss. Despite not telling Max, Abby and Tris go public, and Abby even hangs out in Red with Marcus’s friends now because of them.
